Randy Michael Gregory

RandyRandy Michael Gregory, 57, of Craigsville, Virginia died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at his home.

He was born January 1, 1958 in Staunton, the son of the late Buford Sylvester Gregory, Sr. and Margaret Corrine Ingram Gregory.

Randy was employed as a correction officer for the Virginia Department of Corrections.

He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Corporal, and the National Guard.

Randy attended the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene, and he loved reading the bible, hunting and fishing. He fought bravely in a long battle with his illness.

He is survived by his 2 children: Christina Gregory and Brandon Gregory of Craigsville; grandchild: Jacob Thomas; brothers; Buford Gregory Jr. and his wife Beverly of Stuarts Draft, Kenneth Gregory of Craigsville, Ralph Gregory and wife Patricia of Titusville, Florida; sisters; Judith Shiplett of Craigsville, Shirley Denton and husband Billy of Lynchburg, Alma Armentrout and husband Jerry of Wise, Debbie Gregory of Craigsville; the mother of his children Pamela Gregory Powell; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special nephew: Jeffery “Moose” Shiplett.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 2, 2015 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Adkins officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Shiplett Sr., Kevin Shiplett, Jeffery “Moose” Shiplett, Tom Hostetter Jr., William Hostetter, Brian Shiplett Jr., Billy Mitchell, and BF Little. Honorary pallbearers are Jesse Smiley and his nieces.

The family will receive friends Wednesday July 1, 2015 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Craigsville Funeral Home and at the home of Debbie Gregory, 472 E. Craig St, at any time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Craigsville Church of God of Prophecy, P.O. Box 491, Craigsville, VA 24430.

    So sorry to hear this. I loved working with him, Buford, and Kenny at Augusta Correctional Center. If I was mad about something any one of them would get you to laugh and get your mind off of the problem. At least for a little while. He will be missed. Sorry I could not attend any of the services but I had to work. Prayers go out to his family.
