MargieCraigsville— Margie May Downey Gowan, 92, of Staunton, Virginia died Saturday, June 06, 2015 at Envoy of Staunton.

She was born July 12, 1922 in Craigsville, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Amos Downey and Ada Morris Downey.

Margie was retired from Morton’s.

She is survived by her grandson: Jim Downey and wife Cindy of Stuarts Draft;

great grandchildren: Steven Downey and wife Sarah of Craigsville, Chris Downey and wife Cynthia of Stuarts Draft, Joshua Downey of Stuarts Draft; sister; Pearl Conger of Verona; special niece Carol Jackson; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband; Bill Gowan, her son James “Boots” Downey; 2 sisters, Marie and Annie; and 3 brothers, Joe, Jim, and Mike.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday June 11, 2015 at Craigsville Community Cemetery with Pastor Terry Adkins officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Augusta County SPCA, 33 Archery Lane, Staunton, Va 24401.
