Ted Ellis Sweeney

TedTed Ellis Sweeney, 78, of Goshen, Virginia died Monday, March 16, 2015 at his residence in Craigsville.

He was born May 17, 1937 in Glovers Gap, West Virginia, the son of the late Fred Sweeney and Billie G. Sellers.

Ted was a retired treatment plant operator/supervisor at BPB.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Ted loved to spend time with his family and was also an avid turkey hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine M. Sweeney of Craigsville; 4 daughters: Janet Sweeney of Craigsville, Karen Batton of Wilmington, NC, Linda Hurin of Lake Wylie, SC, and Brenda Martin of Craigsville; 8 grandchildren: Emily Batton, Justin Batton; Shane Hurin, Breanna Hurin; Michael Martin Jr., Christin Hall, Kayla Martin, and Ryan Hall; 1 great grand child: Easton Andrew Martin; and a special loved one and caregiver; Cathy Haislett.

Ted was preceded in death by his brother Donald Sweeney and sister Patsy Hagerman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastors Scott Reese and Tyler Clem officiating. Interment will be in Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Martin Jr., Justin Batton, Shane Hurin, Joe Carlin, Robert McDaniel, and Dean Bucher.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Craigsville Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Fire Department and Rescue Squad in lieu of flowers.
