Clayborn “Shine” Preston Woods Jr., 73, of Craigsville, Virginia died Monday, July 13, 2015 at his home in Craigsville, VA.
He was born April 27, 1942 in Craigsville, the son of the late Clayborn Harding Woods and Elizabeth Bell Benson Woods.
Shine was employed as a foreman at Asplundh Tree Company, where he worked for 49 years.
He was a member of Craigsville Southern Baptist Church. He loved playing cornhole with his friends and family, as well as watching racing and softball games. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Shine is survived by his 5 children: Toney Woods and wife Edith, David Woods and girlfriend Robin, and Jason Woods, all of Craigsville, Tina Matheny and boyfriend Gary of Lexington, Tammy Atkinson and husband Tony of Clayton, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren;
11 great grandchildren; sister: Shirley Woods of Craigsville; and a special daughter-in-law Cindy Woods.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Lorraine Hoover Woods; 4 sisters; Judy Burke, Darlene Eberwien, Barbara Spradlin, Peggy Deloach, and brother Richard Woods.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Craigsville Community Cemetery with Pastor Tom Quick officiating.
Pallbearers will be Danny Clifton, Brian Taylor, Bobby McLain Jr., Mark McLain, Danny Fridley, Troy Welcher, and Bruce Woods
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m., Friday July 17 at Craigsville Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Craigsville Southern Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
