Cathy Gail Brown Powell, 65, of Goshen, Virginia died Friday, January 11, 2019 in Lexington, Virginia.
She was born July 5, 1953 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, the daughter of the late Roy Algon Brown, Jr. and Thelma Madeline Conner Brown.
Cathy was formerly employed as a laboratory technician for the Mundet-Hermetite paper mill.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the First Aid Support Group.
Cathy is survived by her son, Dustin Edward Powell of Goshen; sisters, Sharon Byram and husband Floyd, Deborah Bowden and husband Charles, both of Goshen; nieces and nephews, Brock, Michelle, Heather, Justin, Brandon, Autumn, Dylan, Katrina, Cassandra, Ethan, Hunter, and Owen; and her dogs, Princess and Teddy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Edward Powell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Goshen Methodist Church with Pastor Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Edmond Davidson, Charlie Bowden, Glenn “Boo” Thompson, Jr., Brock Byram, Roger Brown, Muskie Tingler, Rick Schwenk, and Timmy Sprouse. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Byram, Clarence Byram, and Glenn Thompson, Sr.
The family will receive friends two hours before the service at the church; or anytime at the home of Charlie and Debbie Bowden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Rescue Squad or Fire Department.
