Sylvia Grace Farrar Lawhorn, 82, of Goshen, Virginia passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 31, 1936 in Amherst County, Virginia, the daughter of the late William Gladstone Farrar and Cayxie Marie Fields Farrar.
Sylvia was formerly employed as a textile worker for 38 years at Stillwater, and worked for the last 17 years at BG’s Restaurant.
She attended Goshen Baptist Church, and was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family, especially her great grand babies, as well as talking on the telephone.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Blaine Lee Lawhorn and wife Glenna of Goshen; grandchildren, Roy Lee Lawhorn and wife Michelle of Goshen, Leslie Louise Lawhorn and fiancé Justin Powell of Craigsville, Morgan Renee Kay and husband Anthony of Goshen; great grandchildren, Katrina Lynn Lawhorn and boyfriend Nathan Sparks of Goshen, Curtis “CJ” Howard, Jr. of Goshen, Khloe Rayne Lewis of Craigsville, Harper Leigh Kay of Goshen; great great grandchild, Hunter Ryan Sparks; brother, William “Billy” Farrar of Staunton; sister, Mary Frances Hostetter and husband Junior of Swoope; numerous nieces and nephews, more friends than we can name, and a special dog, Missy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Chicken” Lee Lawhorn, and her grandmother who raised her, Emma Grace Frazier Dill.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Goshen Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Reese officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hostetter, Eddie Hostetter, Bill Rowe, Harold Nycum, Larry Nycum, Basil Karr, Floyd Byram, and Joe Minter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Craigsville Funeral Home.
