Calvin Eugene Dinkle, 71, of Craigsville, Virginia died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at his home.
He was born November 28, 1946 in Staunton, the son of the late Frank Eugene Dinkle and Lillian Lenore Martin Dinkle.
He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator for Vulcan Materials Company for 45 years.
Calvin enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved blue grass music, hunting, camping, and his ‘70 Chevelle and ‘66 Mustang. Calvin was a dedicated father, caring friend, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to his neighbors.
He is survived by his children, Jeff Dinkle and fiancé BJ Fragale of Craigsville, Angela Dinkle and Sean Welliver of Staunton, Annette Lowery of Craigsville; grandchildren, Derek Dinkle, Tabatha Wetzel, David “DJ” Williams, Jr., Ethan Fragale, Roger Lowery, Jr., Raven Lowery; 2 great grandsons; brothers, Fred Dinkle of Staunton, Donald Dinkle and wife Phyllis of Stuarts Draft; sisters, Janet Kirkland and husband Richard of Staunton, Alice Redifer and husband Bud of Parnassus; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and too many special friends to name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caring friend and former wife, Cathy Dinkle.
Calvin was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Patricia Whetzel, and a great nephew, Derek Losh.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2018 at Craigsville Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Quick officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roger Lowery, Jr., DJ Williams, Jr., Derek Dinkle, Timmy Jackson, Larry Byram, Clarence Byram, and Eddie Parker.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
