John David Daniel Fridley, 81, of Craigsville, Virginia passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at his home.
He was born March 25, 1936 in Augusta Springs, Virginia, the son of the late James E. Fridley and Annie Ruth Tanksley Fridley.
John was retired from the Staunton City School System.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who lived for his great grandchildren.
John is survived by his daughter, Roxanna Burke and husband Scottie of Craigsville; grandchildren, Matthew Burke and wife Amanda, Michael Burke and wife Muriel, Blake Burke, Holly Strickler and husband BJ, Elizabeth Rexrode and husband Chris; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Bill Malcolm. A special thanks goes to Dr. H. Lynn Moore and staff for their wonderful care and support over the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Frances Spradlin Fridley, a son, J.D. Fridley, Jr., one brother, and three sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Tusing officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Fridley, BJ Strickler, Gary Spradlin, Matthew Burke, Steve Smiley, Ben Strickler, Blake Burke, and Steven Smiley, Jr.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Craigsville Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Shenandoah.
