Nancy Lee Meeks Lumsden, 78, of Craigsville, Virginia died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at her home.
She was born January 30, 1939 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late William Lincoln Meeks and Nellie Gold Hall Crist.
Nancy was formerly employed as a guard at Augusta Correctional Facility.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Nancy is survived by her children: Sherry Lumsden, Sheila Hunt, and Teresa Spray, all of Craigsville; grandchildren: Shaun Lumsden, Tabitha Knight, Crystal Whitlock, George Hunt, Tony Lumsden and wife Katie, Michael Stuples and wife Jordan, Rene Karaskavicz and husband Paul, Crystal Clary; 20 great grandchildren; brothers: Richard Meeks and Gene Crist; sister: Laura Burke; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends: Loise Gardner and Janet Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Wayne Lumsden, Sr.; a son, Maurice Lumsden, Jr.; a granddaughter, Stormie Stuples; a great granddaughter, Gracie Lumsden; a sister, Patsy Owens; and four brothers: Charles, Robert, Walley, and Thomas Meeks.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Dean King officiating, and with Pastor William Robertson assisting. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Knight, Paul Karaskavicz, Phillip McMahan, BJ Strickler, Steve Corbin, and Rob Swisher; honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren
The family will receive friends 6 – 7 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Craigsville Funeral Home and at her home at all other times.
