Rosetta “Rose” Hostetter Sprouse, 83, of Staunton, Virginia died Friday, April 28, 2017 at Kings Daughters Nursing Home.
She was born June 5, 1933 in Goshen, Virginia, the daughter of the late Andrew Thomas Hostetter and Carrie Cecil Clark Hostetter.
Rose was formerly employed at Stillwater Worster Mills in Augusta Springs as a yarn crafter.
She was a former member of Goshen Pentecostal Church, as well as a past member of the Craigsville Rescue Squad Auxiliary. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved to sing, crochet afghans and blankets, riding in her mountains, and camping.
Rose is survived by her children, Velda Jackson of Raphine, Judy Hall and fiancé Glenn Blackwelder of Claremont, North Carolina, Ron Sprouse and wife Rosie of Craigsville, James “Rusty” Sprouse and wife Monica of Craigsville; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother: Henry Hostetter of Crimora; sister: Mable Riley of Churchville; a host of nieces and nephews: and a special friend: Jo Ann Harper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Sprouse on October 29, 2008; two sisters: Mary Dudley and Effie Sweet; and three brothers: Bill Hostetter, Kenny Hostetter, and Robert Hostetter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Claude Williams officiating. Interment will be in Little River Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ron Sprouse, Glenn Blackwelder, Richard Fox, Marshall Sprouse, Anthony Stephenson, and Steven Downey.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 – 7 p.m. at Craigsville Funeral Home and at any other time at Ron’s home.
