David Owen Gregory, Sr., 73, of Craigsville, Virginia died Friday, February 24, 2017 at the University of Virginia.
He was born February 16, 1944 in Craigsville, Virginia, the son of the late Oliver Thornton Gregory and Louise Della Fitzgerald Gregory.
David was previously employed as a lab technician at DuPont.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving honorably in the Vietnam War.
David was a member of Craigsville Holiness Church. He was a talented musician, welder, and mechanic. He will be missed and remembered by countless travelers he helped throughout his life. David possessed a great zeal for helping those in need, and his loss will be greatly felt in the community.
He is survived by his children: Anthony Shiflett, Dana Pullin, David Gregory, Daryl Gregory, and Darren Gregory and his wife Charity: 14 grandchildren; 1 great grand grandson; sister: Nancy Cline; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra W. Gregory, as well as two brothers.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2017 at Craigsville Holiness Church with Brother Garey Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles McLain, Gary Wilcher, Cody Wilcher, Robert Painter, Larry Wilcher, Phillip McMahan, Timmy Gladwell, and Mark Hodge
The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Craigsville Funeral Home.
