Harrison Everette Lawhorn, Sr.

harrison2     Harrison Everette Lawhorn, Sr., 79, of 289 E. Craig Street, Craigsville, Virginia died Friday, January 20, 2017 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia. 

     He was born November 24, 1937 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, the son of the late Roy Lee Lawhorn and Louise Alberta Karr Lawhorn.

     Mr. Lawhorn was retired as a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church; and enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

     He is survived by his wife, Jessie Corrine Jack Lawhorn of Craigsville; 2 children, Teresa “Terry” Shiflett & husband Randy of Staunton, Virginia

Lisa D. Lawhorn of Craigsville; 3 grandchildren, David M. Shiflett, Justin T. Shiflett and Cole D. Chittum; 1 brother, Donald Lawhorn & wife Pat of Goshen, Virginia; 3 sisters, Mary Bosley of Frederick, Maryland

Bonnie Sampson & husband Gerald of Goshen, Gale Tolley & husband Billy of Goshen; 2 sisters-in-law, Sylvia Lawhorn of Goshen, Helen Lawhorn of Maryland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

     He was preceded in death by a son, Harrison “Buzzy” Lawhorn, Jr.; 2 brothers, Russell Lawhorn & James “Chicken” Lawhorn; and 2 sisters, Thelma Huffman & Betty Lou Huffman.

     A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Goshen Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Reese and Pastor Tyler Clem officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Goshen, Virginia.

    Pallbearers will be Jerry Deane, Donnie Lawhorn, Blaine Lawhorn, Dougie Huffman, David Huffman, Gerald Sampson, Billy Tolley and Johnny Sibold.

     The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., Monday evening at Craigsville Funeral Home.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the Goshen Baptist CD Ministry or Grace Bible Camp in lieu of flowers.
