Steward Douglas Robertson, 89, of Staunton, Virginia died Thursday, December 08, 2016 at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, Virginia.
He was born June 22, 1927 in Quicksburg, Virginia, the son of the late Steward Wallace Robertson and Allie May Ingram Robertson.
He was employed with Acme Visable Records as a machinist, tool die maker and supervisor in the machine shop for 35 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII & the Korean War.
Mr. Robertson was a member of Bells Valley Methodist Church; and the Post 2044 VFW in Earlysville. He loved to hunt and was a member of the Estaline Valley Hunting Camp. He enjoyed Nascar and camping and was a member of the Waynesboro Moose. Steward was a loving father and grandfather.
He was married to Lorraine Virginia Hazlett Robertson, his wife of 54 years who preceded him in death on August 31, 2001.
He is survived by two children, Susan Pleasants & husband Freddie L. of Waynesboro, Virginia and Michael W. Robertson & wife Michele of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; four grandchildren, Tracy L. Pleasants, Kristine N. Robertson, Jeremey W. Robertson and Brittany L. Aughenbaugh; three great grandchildren, Triniti & Destini Kinard and Addison Aughenbaugh; a brother, Melvin Robertson of California; three sisters; Martha Wilhelm of Buena Vista, Virginia, Edith Powell & husband Claine and Mildred Burke all of Bells Valley, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Robertson of Afton, Virginia and Patsy Robertson of Goshen, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Powell and four brothers, Russell, Marshall, Junior and Marvin Robertson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Bells Valley Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Pysell and Reverend Claude Williams officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris, Clinton, Adam, Robert and Rusty Robertson, Chester Burke, A.W. Wilhelm, and Steward Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pete Shifflett, Richard Bethel, Kenny Robertson and Scotty Morris.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Craigsville Funeral Home.
