Sylvia Jean Carroll

sylviaSylvia Jean Carroll, 77, of Craigsville, Virginia died Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Kings Daughters Nursing Home.

She was born September 10, 1939 in Craigsville, the daughter of the late Samuel Lee Carroll and Mildred Irene Jackson Carroll Knight.

Sylvia was a lifelong homemaker and caregiver of her parents.  She was a loving mother, who loved to cook and spend time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Lisa Carroll and husband William Graham of Covington, Melissa Carroll and husband Greg Giovine of Staunton;  grandchildren: JJ and Eric Tudor, both of Covington; brothers: Woodrow “Woody” Carroll of Craigsville, Raymond Carroll and wife Susan of Attleboro, Massachusetts, John Knight and wife Carolyn of Craigsville, Glenwood Knight and wife Bonnie of Craigsville, Danny Knight and wife Shirley of Goshen; sisters: Bernice Welcher and husband Raymond, Darlene Campbell and husband Pete, both of Craigsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her step-father John Elmer Knight, a brother: Keith Jackson, and 2 sisters-in-law: Velma Carroll and Nancy Jackson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Adkins and Pastor Bill Curry officiating. Interment will be in Estaline Valley Presbyterian Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Glenwood Knight, John Knight, Danny Knight, Raymond Welcher, Eric Shiflett, and Raymond Carroll

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Craigsville Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Craigsville Funeral Home to assist the family.

    I just wanted to say thank you Aunt Sylvia , You always gave yourself and your time to everyone else pretty most of your life. Every summer we came to visit for a week or two and you were always offering to cook such wondering meals for us and you made me and my sister feel like one of your own daughters while we were there for our visit with the family . You always made us feel loved and welcome. You will always be in my heart and cherished memories forever. My condolences to all of my aunts, uncles,and cousins, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. God Bless…
