Joseph “Joe” McLain

JoeJoseph “Joe” Alexander McLain, 93, of Craigsville, Virginia died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at his home.

He was born May 6, 1923 in Fordwick, Virginia, the son of the late Charles Abraham McLain and Ella Jane Montgomery McLain.

Joe was a retired iron worker.

He was a veteran of the US Army & US Air Corp, having served in World War II.

Joe was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, of Millboro Lodge 28.  He was also a member of  St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children: Amanda McLain Benson & husband Bob of Craigsville, VA; Joseph Barry McLain & wife Susan of Millboro, VA; grandchildren: Anthony “Alex” Rankin & wife Jessica of Craigsville, VA, Joley Allison McLain of Millboro, VA; step grandson: Kevin Benson; great grandchildren: Evelynn and Gabrielle Rankin; step great grandson Nathan Shiley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sally Lumsden McLain and 13 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday July 30, 2016 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Gram officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Leggett, John Eavers, Kevin Benson, Jarred Kincaid, Patrick Nuchols, and Burke Huddleston.

The family will receive friends 6 – 7 p.m. the night before at Craigsville Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Craigsville Fire Department.
