Charlie Wood, Sr.

Charlie Washington Wood, Sr., 90, of Goshen, Virginia died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at his home.

He was born July 21, 1925 in Piney River, Virginia, the son of the late Harry Gleason Wood and Adeline Bell Cook Wood.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith Burnell Coppage Wood; children: Linda Gryder & husband Malcolm of Fredricksburg, VA, Charlie Wood, Jr. of Springfield, VA, Lori Wood Untiedt & husband John of Bristersburg, VA;  17 grand and great grandchildren;

brothers-in-law: Herman Coppage and Richard Mays; special cousin: Ronnie Wood, and a family friend: Dale Bagarus.

He was preceded in death by his son, Paul William McFarland.

Charlie was previously employed as a roofer for Virginia Roofing Corp for 50 years.

He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and sportsman, who loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid baseball fan.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Wood, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Little River Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Craigsville Funeral Home.
