Telford “Ted” Dewyne Dickey, Sr., 85, of Goshen, Virginia died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at his residence.
He was born February 26, 1930 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Marion Archie Dickey and Sadie Dixon Dickey.
Ted was retired from being a self-employed brick mason.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served on the Military Police.
Ted was a member of Bells Valley United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. .
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Morris Dickey of Goshen; children: Telford Dickey Jr. and wife Linda of Goshen, Roland Dickey and wife Penny of Craigsville, Sandra Hinkle of Goshen; grandchildren: Amy McCormick, Dale Dickey, Suzy Clevenger, April Grimm, Dustin Dickey, Brandon Hinkle; 5 great grandchildren; other; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by 5 brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 21, 2016 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Linwood Wilkes officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Dickey, Drace Clevenger, Chris Robertson, Carl Terry, Larry Wilcher, Sammy Colvin, Barry Gum. Honorary Pallbearers: Marvin Jackson, Clain Powell, Chester Burke, Garner Byram.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at Craigsville Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Center.

There are no words to express how my heart aches for the lost of such a great man.Uncle Ted I will always hold you deep in my heart. You were one of a kind. I will always remember how you made me laugh and the good times I had being around you. My thoughts and prayers are with my Aunt Lucy and my cousins. You all know that your dad is looking down on you with that big old smile. Uncle Ted please kiss my brother for me and let him know he will never be forgotten just as you will not.
