Stella Mae Lumsden Cauley

Mom-reducedStella Mae Lumsden Cauley, 79, of Craigsville passed away September 4th 2015 at her residence.

Stella was born in Fordwick November 29, 1935, the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Lumsden.

She worked as a beautician for many years, worked in the Coast Guard Exchange in Yorktown, VA and Kodiak, AK, and also was a proud sailor’s wife for over 25 years.

She was united in marriage September 11, 1954 to Resta Nickell Cauley, Jr. for nearly 61 years.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert Lumsden, Maurice Lumsden and Ronnie Lumsden, 3 sisters, Sally McClain, Polly Downey and Louise Lumsden, and a grandson, Derek Lawson.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years Resta Nickell “Nick” Cauley; three children, Annie Lawson, Nicky Cauley and Andy Cauley; 4 grandchildren Brian Lawson, Adam Lawson, Chris Cauley and Caitlyn Cauley; 5 great grandchildren,  Isabell Lawson, Chase Lawson, Derek Lawson, Evan Lawson and Blake Lawson; 1 sister, Gladys Sprouse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active Pall Bearers are Brian Lawson, Adam Lawson, Chris Cauley, Caitlyn Cauley, Joey McClain, and Ricky Sprouse.

A graveside service will be held at Craigsville Memorial Cemetery September 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 420 Neff Avenue, Suite 210, Harrisonburg, VA  22801 or to the War Memorial Fund, P O Box 400, Craigsville, VA  24430.
