John Edward Sours

JohnJohn Edward Sours, 80, of Craigsville, Virginia died Tuesday, September 01, 2015 at his home.

He was born February 13, 1935 in Fordwick, Augusta County, the son of the late Lawrence Edward and Viola Everhart Sours.

Johnny was previously employed as a farm manager.

He loved Nascar, dirt racing, and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed hunting, broke horses for Anderson’s Horse Ranch, and used to operate heavy equipment.  He also loved his pets.

Johnny is survived by his step-children: Linda Sellers of Waynesboro and Willis Lyle Jr. and wife Glenna of Waynesboro; 3 sisters; Catherine Jenkins Clark of Craigsville, Josephine Dameron of Staunton, Laura Frances Perkins and husband Dennis of Cary, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ingram Sours and his 4 siblings, Betty Sours Colvin, Florence “Georgie” Kirkpatrick, Lawrence B. Sours, and Franklin Eugene Sours.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Adkins officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Ruritan Club after the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Craigsville Fire Department, the Craigsville Ruritan Club, or the Craigsville Food Pantry.
