Phyllis Jean Boyne Sprouse

PhyllisPhyllis Jean Boyne Sprouse, 77, wife of the late Ed Sprouse of Craigsville, went home to be with the Lord while at her residence Sunday, May 10, 2015.

She was born March 12, 1938 in Fordwick, Virginia, the daughter of the late Dewey Boyne and Nora Shifflett Boyne.

Phyllis was a retired tray packer at Mortons Frozen Foods and a member of the local Teamsters Union.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Ann Farrish and husband John of Waynesboro, Robert Boyne and Barbara Melton of Staunton, Debbie Ann Boyne of Craigsville, Calvin Sprouse and wife Candy of Craigsville; 7 grandchildren: Michael Slusher, Calvin and Christopher Sprouse, Chad and Joey Boyne, Troy and R.J. Melton; 4 great grandchildren: Dylan, Dustin, Chloe and Zoey; sister; Helen Almarode; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks go to the staff of DaVita Dialysis, Craigsville Fire & Rescue, and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving and compassionate care in Phyllis’s final days.  A special thanks also to her caregivers: daughter-in-law Candy and special friend Tina Riley.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Ed, as well as her siblings Lewis Boyne, Mildred Buchanan, Cecil Boyne, and Thelma McNeal.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 13, 2015 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastors Terry Adkins and Richard Peters officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Slusher, Troy Melton, R.J. Melton, Chad Boyne, John Farrish, Howard McNeal, Richard Fox, and Charlie Riley.  Honorary pallbearers will be Saford Downey, George Helmick and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday May 12, 2015 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Craigsville Funeral Home.
