Alice Margaret Hampton, 91, of Goshen, Virginia died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at her residence.
She was born March 6, 1923 in Goshen, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles Withrow and Opal Lee McClung Withrow.
She was retired from the Rockbridge Public School Cafeteria.
She was an active member of the Goshen Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a cook at Camp Mount Shenandoah.
She was married to the late James Thomas Hampton, her husband of two years before he was killed in a military helicopter accident.
She is survived a daughter, Kathleen Hampton of Goshen, two sisters, Betty Lee Withrow of Bluffton, South Carolina and Susan Sams of Goshen, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Goshen Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Reese officiating, Pastor Lloyd Via, Pastor Tyler Clem and Pastor Mike Raphael, assisting. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Henry Ingram, Louie Ingram, Mike Jolly, Jason Hinkle, Blaine Lawhorn, Kenny Aldridge and Joe Minter.
