William “Mick” Gardner Sr.

MickWilliam Richard “Mick” Gardner Sr., 78, of Goshen, Virginia died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1936 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Albert Gardner Sr. and Vera Belle Gouker Gardner.

Mick was retired from the Stillwater Plant in Goshen as a Semidecator.

He was a member of the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazerene. He loved his family, tending his lawn, and walking. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was a city country-boy.

Mick is survived by his wife, Helen Eloise Sprouse Gardner of 2541 Estaline Valley Rd, Goshen, Virginia 24439; children: Cynthia Lane and husband Joseph of FL; Bonnie Sprouse of Craigsville; William “Mickey” Gardner Jr. of Craigsville; daughter in law: Bobbie Jean Sprouse; grandchildren: Jamie Knight Sr., Donnie Knight and wife Shaina, James Lane, Marilyn Lane; great grand children: Ashleigh Knight, Jamie Knight Jr., Emily Knight, Carly Knight; brother; Ronald Gardner and wife Arlene of MD; sisters in law: Helen Gardner, Carole Gardner, Sue Gardner, favorite sister in law: Francis “Mickey” Jones; and numerous favorite nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son John Calvin Sprouse; his brothers Albert Jr., Charles, and Doug; and his sister Helen Brown.

A memorial service will be decided on at a later date, with Pastor Billy Curry officiating.

The family will receive friends at their home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazerene or Craigsville Funeral Home.

    Will never forget Mr. Gardner taking me to my first professional baseball game to see the Orioles. I am glad all the pain and suffering he experienced is over with. I miss his son and now i will miss him. May God comfort and bless you all.
