Dorothy Marie Fox, 88, of 89 Jackson Street, Craigsville, VA, 24430 went to be with the Lord and her husband in heaven on Tuesday, December 03, 2013 with her entire family by her side.
She was born June 29, 1925 in Rockbridge County, VA, the daughter of the late Walter Gaylor and Hattie (Burke) Gaylor. She was married to the late Marshall T. Fox, Sr. who preceded her in death on June 27, 1985.
She was retired from Bobbie Lynne Sewing Factory of Staunton, Virginia. She was formerly employed with White’s Furniture Store and Earhart Grocery Store both in Craigsville. She worked as a caregiver for many families throughout the area.
She was a faithful member of the Valley Independent Baptist Church that she loved so much. She was a loving mother and friend. She enjoyed working in her yard, flowers & cooking. Everyone that met her…loved her. She always tried to help others and wanted everyone, everywhere to get along.
She is survived by three sons, Marshall Fox, Jr. & wife Donna of Covington, Virginia, Alvin Fox, Sr. & wife Joyce of Covington, and Richard Fox & wife Shelby of Craigsville; 8 grandchildren, Tracie Fox Wegman & husband Mark, Jenni Marie Fox Hinton & husband Gene, Alvin Fox, Jr. & wife Melinda, Gene Bowden & wife Kim, Lynnette LaPrade, Michelle Fox, Richard Alan Fox & wife Mandy, Faye Fox & fiancé Mike Pearson; 2 brothers, Arthur Gaylor and John Gaylor & fiancé Pat Frost all of Roanoke, Virginia; 2 sisters, Mary Baker & husband Donald and Helen Gaylor both of Covington, Virginia; 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James, Howard and Walter Stuart Gaylor; 3 sisters, Maude Gaylor, Estelle Fortune and Virginia Hooten.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Valley Independent Baptist Church with Reverend Buzzy Robertson & Pastor Claude Williams officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Byram, Chris Morrison, Cody Nida, Mike Pearson, Gene Bowden, Alvin Fox, Jr., Donnie Blevins and Kenny Robertson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Craigsville Funeral Home.
