Dallas Ray Burke

BurkeDallas Ray Burke, 74, of 136 Little River Road, Goshen, Virginia, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at his residence.

He was born September 14, 1939 in Rockbridge County, Virginia on “The Knob”, the son of the late Arthur L. Burke and Lenteen Thompson Burke. On July 29, 1961 he married Mildred Robertson Burke.

He was retired from the Fairfield Bridge Company. He was a member of the Goshen Presbyterian Church; a Life Member of Bath County American Legion; a member of the National Rifle Association; and a lifetime member of the Goshen VFW Post 10773 .

He is survived by his wife Mildred Robertson Burke of Goshen; a son Chester Burke & wife Shannon of Lexington; a granddaughter, Rachel Marie Burke of Lexington; and a sister, Anna Marie Talmadge & husband Carl of Tidasville, Florida.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Arthur, Richard “Buddy” and Danny Burke.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Craigsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Terry Adkins and Pastor Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will be in Craigsville Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Graham, Dean Clemmer, Tommy Burke, Chris Robertson, Benny Jones, James Kennedy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Douglas Lyle, Tommy Kennedy, Ted Dickey, Larry Earhat, Timmy Alphin, Junior Campbell, William Lee Wilcher, Sherman McClain, Anthony Stephenson, Wayne Desper, Guy Eavers. Military Honors will be provided by VFW 2216.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Craigsville Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Center or the Rockbridge Area Hospice in Lexington.
